Local Dinner Spots: Kally K's

Dani and I have been trying to visit local non-franchise restaurants, and tonight we picked Kally K's in Dunedin.

The Arrival
We arrived around 5:15-5:30 thinking that we'd beat the dinner rush, but it turns out that we were by far the youngest folks in the place. We got seated pretty quickly, but it took a bit for the server to come up for our order.

Funny Story
We both got up to go to the salad bar, and when I came back, someone was in my seat. Confused, I went back to Dani who was getting soup and asked her if I forgot where we were sitting. After a few seconds, we found someone to move us to another table.

The Food
Dani had the Choice Sirloin and a baked potato, which was on the Early Bird Menu and I had the Choice Sirloin Terayaki with steak fries. The salad bar was included with the meal.

Conclusion
Good food. Total for the night with tip was less than $25. We'd definitely visit again.

Charity Bowling

Today's event
Dani and I joined up with the rest of the Threshers crew at the bowling alley on Hercules to take part in a Relay for Life event over there. At least I think it was Relay. Either way, we were part of an annual tournament over there that helps to raise money for charity. It's a good event, and the Threshers are big sponsors of it.

The tournament includes three games. It was called something like 9-pin, because you only needed 9 pins down to get a strike.

Our Team
Play for Today had three members:
(1) Dani
(2) Kevin
(3) Intern John

The Results
Not sure how we finished in the standings since we left not too long after we finished up the third game, but our team averaged around 125 a game.

The Brahms go to The Trop

Mom and Dad took Dani and I to Tropicana Field to watch what may have been Roger Clemens' last start in the area. As an added bonus, Scott Kazmir was the Rays starter. The board off I-275 advertised the game as Rocket vs. Kaz.

Before the Game
We found one of the few remaining spots in the FREE lot adjacent to Tropicana Field. We decided to give the Ticket Office outside the Rotunda a try. The line looked a lot like an amusement park, but went very quickly. After what may have been 15-20 minutes we were ordering our $22 (prime game) outfield seats. We ended up getting Section 148 which is in right-center field.

The Food
It was Dani and my first trip to the Trop this year, so we took an entire trip around the building to figure out what we wanted to eat. Dani went with a Cuban at The Delicatessen, while I went with a fried Grouper sandwich and a Dr. Pepper at the St. Petersburg Pier outlet. Later on Mom and Dani came back with some peach cobbler. Not sure where it came from, but it was big, and good.

The Game
The Rays won 6-4. Kaz won the pitching battle, evening up his record to 6-6. In six innings pitched, he gave up only four hits and struck out seven. He had no earned runs.

Clemens on the other hand, pitched 5.1 innings and gave up five runs on five hits and only struck out two. His record is now a paltry 2-4.

Other Thoughts
Dani and I visited the Rays touch tank in center field. Very cool.
